Marriage is no simple feat. Once you tie the knot, you’d know that it’s the ugliest most beautiful thing you’ll ever get to experience.
Marriage is so complicated that most married couples are led to believe that men and women are not meant to co-exist. That this setup is completely ridiculous and absurd, that whoever invented marriage must be out of his/her mind. And yet, if you ask these very same couples, how they’d do it differently when they’re given a second chance to live their lives, they’ll probably tell you they’ll get married again, to the same people who drive them crazy day in day out.
So what does it take for a marriage to succeed? The quote above gives us a clear picture as to how. It likens marriage to a box, an empty box that is. It’s a box that should be filled with all the good things like love, respect, patience, friendship, and many more. And that you can’t take more than what you put in, or else you’ll be left with an empty box. In other words, if you demand love or respect but don’t give it, your marriage can easily crumble.
