One of the biggest mistakes you can make in your life is to let your past anchor you down.
It doesn’t mean that you must forget about everything that transpired in the past but you should not dwell too much on these. It’s all right to remember past events and relish lessons learned from mistakes but to be consumed with regret and anger–this will only prevent you from moving forward.
So what do you do?
Accept that past is past. That whatever happened, there’s nothing more you can do to change it. You can alter the course of your present but not your past. You can change the consequences of the action you’ve done but not the action itself.
Learn from your mistakes. The only thing to regret about mistakes is not learning anything about them. But you’d have to use these to improve your life, and not take a toll on your future.
Look ahead with optimism. Just because bad things happened then, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to have bad luck the rest of your life. Believe that things can only get better from here, and that you’re about to have the best times ever.Image Source: enlightenlifecoach.com
